Short Film, Horror / Comedy
Stuffy is a short film about two characters debating whether or not they’re in the first act of a horror movie. Believing their child’s stuffed bunny rabbit is possessed, Emily forces her husband Mark to drive the stuffy out to an old pet cemetery for a ritualistic burial. It’s a real leap of faith on Mark’s part, and a tall order for a relationship that’s already on the rocks.
The idea for Stuffy came about when trying to think of a story that would only need a single prop. “A stuffed animal,” I thought. “That’s cheap. We could probably get a lot of mileage out of that.” The idea snowballed from there, centring the story around a couple on the ropes and playing with the conventions of horror.
HF Productions and director Dan Nicholls (Game of Thrones, Shmigadoon!) loved the script and wanted to expand what was originally a hyper-low budget idea into something more visually impressive.
